Rural Drop-off Sites
Rural waste collection is available free of charge from 7:00am to 2:00pm for rural residents. Drop-off sites do not operate on holidays and are open the next scheduled date. As of Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, the schedule changed to the following:
- Locust: Mondays, Wednesdays, 1st and 3rd Fridays. Opposite the Locust School. Recycling on site.
- Bluffton: Tuesdays. 2619 West Ravine Road, in the Bluffton Store parking lot. No recycling containers.
- Kendallville: 1st and 3rd Thursdays. 3453 324th Ave. Recycling on site.
- Fort Atkinson: 2nd and 4th Thursdays. Fort Atkinson County Shop at 2656 150th St. No recycling containers at the waste drop off but there are bins at the Community Center parking lot.
- Ridgeway: 2nd and 4th Fridays. Ridgeway County Shop on East St. Recycling on site.
- Winneshiek County Landfill: Monday to Friday. 2000 140th Avenue Decorah, IA.
Winneshiek County rural residents must have Placards to use the sites. All rural waste sites are open from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Winneshiek County Rural Waste Collection Registration:
Winneshiek County rural residents must register to use the Winneshiek County rural waste collection sites. There is no charge to register, and personal information will only be used by Winneshiek County. Only our rural residents are eligible to use this service. If you live within an incorporated city, your waste is picked up by a collection service.

Fill Out a Form: Obtain a registration form from the site monitor. You can return the completed form to the site monitor or drop it off at the Auditor’s Office in the Courthouse.
